What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional intelligence (usually indicated as Emotional Quotient or “EQ”) is the ability of:
- understanding how situations impact our values and affect our emotions
- being aware of how emotions shape our decisions and trigger our actions
- understanding how emotions are generated in our mind and body, learn to recognize and moderate them
- realizing that this is part of human nature and affects everyone else
- developing the skill of recognizing emotions in others and behave appropriately
- using these skills to build positive relationships with others and achieve our long-term goals
EQWIND has targeted these abilities as core items in its courses and is fully able to bring added value to organizations and individuals.
What is the difference between EQ and IQ?
- EQ plays an important and complementary role in our lives just as IQ.
- IQ measures the Intellectual Ability which is related to problem-solving.
- EQ indicates the ability to know and manage one’s own emotions and recognize and adjust to others’ emotions.
- Studies show that there is a strong correlation with both IQ and EQ in highly successful people. One important point is that studies have proved that EQ can be taught and learned .
EQWIND’s courses can provide the necessary learning tools both in knowledge and in practice.

How can I and my organization benefit from developing a higher EQ?
Organizations with higher EQ have demonstrated to obtain:
- Higher productivity and efficiency
- Lower employee turnover and higher job satisfaction
- Stronger commitment, engagement and loyalty from associates
- Better results in the long term
EQWIND provides courses with strong focus on the methods and practices that guide and encourage organizations and individuals in maximizing the benefits of EQ.
Persons with higher EQ have demonstrated to have:
Lower impact from stress and stronger resilience when facing problems Higher adaptability in coping with change at work and in life Better ability to cooperate, understand and persuade others Lower prejudice from biases and better adaptability in multicultural environments Positive attitude towards challenging targets Clearer view on long-term goals and stronger determination in pursue them Higher potential to develop and being recognized as leaders
How can I improve myself and my organization’s EQ?
- Learn and practice introspection and develop self-awareness
- Learn to recognize the onset of emotions and moderate their influence
- Develop the ability to perceive others’ emotions and adjust your behavior
The good news is that EQ can be learned. EQWIND courses can provide the basis for those individuals and organizations that are determined to develop their emotional abilities.

How can I and my organization benefit from EQWIND’s courses?
- EQWIND has developed a flagship course that covers all the phases of EQ
- The course is based on a solid scientific basis
- In addition, the founders have included their deep knowledge of the complexity of the workplace, which is instrumental for those that work or aim to work in international corporations.
EQWIND courses can prepare corporations to utilize their full potential delivering an impressive ROI against the training expense.
For who EQWIND courses are designed?
- The courses are aimed at organizations and professionals that want to gain a competitive edge in the industry by maximizing the potential of their resources and fully leverage on effective and positive communication.
- The course can also match the needs of those students and individuals who want to join the corporate world, starting with the right foot, and aim at developing themselves as leaders in their international-level careers.

Why, in the current professional employment market, are merely technical skills not enough to succeed?
- Modern corporations select people mostly based on IQ measurement. Therefore, there are many people capable of using logic to properly tackle problem-solving in the more demanding positions.
- However, IQ has a very low correlation with the potential of people to develop into recognized leaders. This phenomenon is called “Floor Effect” as the requirements set by the organizations for key positions identify people with similar IQ.
- At that level, the key differentiator is the EQ, which is the ability to cooperate with others, to be leaders able to leverage on the full potential of their teams, to have and convey a positive attitude, and to overcome setbacks turning them into opportunities.
- Ignoring this aspect at work causes problems, such as poor communication, low motivation, and lack of innovation, high personnel turnover, and low productivity.
- In these environments, managers need to understand why their teams are not productive, targets are not reached so to be able to improve the situation. EQ skills transform managers from bosses into leaders.
- EQ helps organizations, groups and individuals understand how to know themselves, manage their emotions, and build productive relationships and consciously contribute to their improvement and that of their organizations.
Why do we talk about “emotions” in the context of business?
- Emotions have been a topic considered from ancient time Greek philosophers to more modern scientists such as Darwin and Freud.
- EQ drives our judgment and defines our behavior and this point is increasingly important as organizations become more interconnected, complex and multi-cultural.
- Businesses that aim at achieving impressive results need to leverage on all possible human qualities of their associates and managers: from the rational ones to the emotional ones.
EQWIND courses incorporate the founders’ long, diverse, and cross-cultural experience (especially in the Asian / Western interactions) in multi-national corporations. In these contexts, emotions mix with diverse cultures requiring a highly developed EQ. With plenty of real-life cases as examples, EQWIND provides a unique advantage compared to other similar courses.

Is EQ just a fashion designed to get into people’s heads?
- EQ is based on a growing number of rigorous studies and experiments designed and performed all over the world.
- Observations confirming the success of persons with higher EQ have been conducted in various types of organizations.
- There are sufficient scientific proofs that people with higher EQ are more successful not only at work, but also in work-life balance and personal relationships.
- Major corporations (PepsiCo, L’Oreal, Sheraton) but also complex organizations such as the US Army have successfully adopted and employed EQ skills to reduce costs, increase sales and productivity at all levels.
- Similarly, the most advanced educational institutions have included EQ courses for students to allow them a major rate of success in graduation, employability and future income.
EQWIND courses can address both, corporations and educational institutions, requirements for their associates, managers and students.
What about using EQ to achieve optimum results in professional exams?
- Examinations are critical moments for students and present the same challenges as presentations.
- Students need to know the topic well. But that’s not enough. It is necessary to convey confidence and persuade the professors (just as the management board) that the student possesses the knowledge and also the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Many students focus only on learning the topics and fail to develop self-confidence. While this is suitable for the academic world, where examinations are based on closed questions, overlooking the development of self-confidence becomes a handicap in the working environment.
EQWIND courses place great emphasis in the development of self-awareness and self-confidence, two great skills for students engaged in their studies and giving them an advantage over others once they join the business world.

How does one test EQ (in layman’s terms)?
- Measuring intelligence, whether logical or emotional, is still very much under debate. IQ test were developed about one hundred years ago, raising controversies from the beginning and are not being put into question.
- Similarly, there are many tests that measure EQ and also these are under constant review. The key point is not to measure intelligence but to identify areas of improvement, using introspection and developing growth mindset.
- What science has demonstrated is that, contrary to IQ, it is possible to learn and improve EQ.
EQWIND adopts an entry self-evaluation (not a test) with the purpose of allowing each participant to identify the strong and weak points.
For students, EQWIND course approach is to allow each person to identify their own definition of success and accordingly understand which weak points require improvement. Our team
